With the holidays upon us, give your loved ones an experience and gift they’ll really enjoy. Instead of some tchotchke they’ll quickly forget, how about a visit to one of the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region’s many wineries, breweries, or distilleries, plus a bottle or two of wine, beer, or moonshine?
The local wine, beer, and spirits scene throughout the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region has flourished in recent years, and since the first “Uncork the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors” Tasting Trail debuted in 2015, we’ve had to update it regularly to incorporate new destinations. The third version of the trail is now available with a new brochure, website, Facebook page, and map, and it features wineries, breweries, and distilleries across the five-county region, plus a number of related tasting events throughout the year. From the third-oldest brewery in the country to America’s only handmade moonshine distillery, plus 18 wineries, the area’s wide variety of options provide something for almost any drinker, and the Trail helps visitors find the different destinations via some of the state’s most scenic roads.
“Local wineries, distilleries, breweries, and tasting events are becoming increasingly popular with travelers to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region,” says John Straitiff, executive director for the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau. “Our new guide provides a one-stop directory for those looking to sample the great flavors of the region. This version features 21 stops and scores of events plus an easy-to-use map, and it’s one of our most popular pieces with our travelers.”
Visitors can find hard copies of the Trail brochure and map at the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Center in Brookville, any of the stops on the Trail, and nearly 150 information racks at tourism destinations throughout the region.
