The words horse thief conjures up images of the old west with cowboys, horses, gun fights at high-noon, and where stealing a man’s horse was a good way to get shot. HorseThief Days in Knox runs August 13th through the 20th and provides visitors plenty of excitement without the dangers and drama of life on the American frontier. This year’s event is stacked with plenty of ways to have fun. If you like to cut a rug, there is live music nightly starting on Wednesday evening with many local bands taking the stage and Issac Cole of American Idol fame also performing. One of the more unique and popular events you will find is the tractor races. If you like horsepower, (the kind under the hood) there is Bike Night, Jeep Invasion, Garden Tractor Pulls, Hay Rides, and even a Power Wheels Derby for kids. If you’re looking for a few laughs, you won’t want to miss the Bed Races and Obstacle Course Challenge. Are you looking for a little competition? There are softball, cornhole, and horseshoe tournaments or maybe a game of Bingo is more your style. Of course there will be tons of festival food to enjoy. The final day of the event features the Firemen’s Parade and Fireworks. So saddle up and make tracks to HorseThief Days for some good old family fun.
