August 26-27, 2017

Hosted by Cook Forest State Park in partnership with Clear Creek State Park.

The Clarion River Paddling Adventure is an overnight outdoor interpretive canoeing and camping experience designed for families & friends.  Children 12 & up must be with a participating adult.  Participants should be in relatively good physical condition.  At least one experienced canoeist should be in each boat.  Kayakers must have prior river kayaking experience and should feel confident in their ability to navigate obstacles and small rapids.

Each participant must be able to be comfortable in possibly cold & wet conditions (a poorly prepared individual can potentially disrupt the experiences of the entire group).  Appropriate footwear, apparel, utensils, tents, and sleeping bags are the participant’s responsibility.  A list of items to bring will be included with confirmation materials.

ACTIVITIES

Weather and water conditions permitting, activities will include:

Canoeing, kayaking, birding, and fishing along the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River from Heath Pump Station to Cook Forest State Park (17 miles)

Overnight canoe camping along the river at Clear Creek State Park

Investigating lumber boom ghost towns and relics along the river

Enjoyment of local foods courtesy of Farmers Inn
