March is the month we start thinking of spring and getting out of the winter doldrums! There’s no better way to do that than with some live, local music. With Irish tunes abounding, here’s what’s springing up for March!
If you want to hear some hardcore rockin’ blues you must come to R** Bandana Winery on March 4th to hear Christopher Buhler and special guest Lonesome Bob.
Mitch Littler plays his original blues tunes complete with harmonica and a soulful voice. You can see him live at Clarion River Brewing Company on March 4th from 8-11 p.m.
Spanning four decades, The Ozone Rangers are a classic rock, country, and ZZ Top tribute band. Relying on a groove of bluesy bass and drum rhythms sprinkled with some tasty Southern licks, the Ozone recipe has stood the test of time like a bottle of Jack Daniels on a woodshed shelf. You don’t want to miss them at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 4th.
Daniel Stockwell has a unique mix of folk, rock and indie music. He plays cover songs and has some really good original tunes as well. He’ll be at Deer Creek Winery on March 5th from 1-4 p.m. then Samantha Sears takes over from 5-8 p.m. playing her special blend of eclectic acoustic rock.
Lonesome Bob and Steve play electrifying rock with a unique show of great music and comedic interaction on March 5th, 18th & 26th at R** Bandana Winery.
Trixx band plays all of your favorite classic rock hits from the 70’s and 80’s including Journey, Styx, Bryan Adams and so much more. These guys have been together for a long time and it shows. They are playing at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 5th.
No matter what era you’re from, the rockin’ duo Wheels & Heels (Dick and Joanie from the band Trixx) will probably know one of your favorite songs. They are at the Iron Mountain Grille on March 11th.
Bryan Phillips will be playing all your favorite & country hits at Deer Creek Winery’s Friday Night Music Lounge on March 11th from 6-8 p.m., on March 12th from 5-8 p.m. with Denny his special guest and on March 25th from 6-8 p.m.
Fine Til Friday plays all of your favorite classic rock hits. You have to get out to Ray’s Hot Spot on March 11th to hear them.
Robyn Young performs acoustic country, pop, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s rock and country. She is also a songwriter so you will hear some of her original work as well. She’s playing from 1-4 p.m. on March 12th at Deer Creek Winery.
A night of kickin’ country music happens at St. Marys High School on March 12th with Restless Heart! National superstars with hits like That Rock Won’t Roll, The Bluest Eyes in Texas, A Tender Lie, Big Dreams in a Small Town, When She Cries and many more. Celebrate all things Irish and get your toes a-tappin’ at Lincoln Hall as Carnival of Souls perform a concert of Celtic music on March 12th featuring highland pipes, bodhrán, 12 string and bass guitar, mandolin, fiddle, accordion, keyboard and vocals.
Also on March 12th Titchner-Scott’s Cèilidh Concert will be an evening of Irish music at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Brookville. If you like bluesy rock and just plain fun, then you have to come see the Renegade Roosters on March 12th at R** Bandana Winery.
Against the Grain is a western PA rock band playing everything from classic rock to alternative to today’s hits including interesting versions of fan-favorite songs that span hard rock classics from AC/DC and Led Zeppelin to Grunge-Alternative bands such as the Foo Fighters and Reliant K. They will be playing at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 12th.
On March 18-19th come out to the annual Clarion River Jam Bluegrass Festival at the Park Inn by Radisson where you will hear continuous Bluegrass and Newgrass music by the top regional musicians. Free admission.
On March 18th Jesse Weston will be dishin’ up some good ole piano blues from 8-11 p.m at Clarion River Brewing Company.
The Sawyer Stepp Trio is a quality, easy listening, full sounding trio band that performs a nice variety of songs from the 70’s, 60’s, 50’s, 40’s, 30’s and even back to the roaring 20’s! They will play at Deer Creek Winery’s Friday Night Music Lounge on March 18th from 6-8 p.m.
Two For Flinching combines some of the most talented musicians in the area with an entertaining stage performance and a spectacular sound and lighting show. The quartet switches effortlessly between smooth funk, hard rock and groovin’ dance rhythms, while providing sweet vocal harmonies, dazzling technical musicianship and a dose of humor. You don’t want to miss them at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 18th.

If you need Jazz, standards and swing tunes in your life then Jazz Lite is the band that you need to see on March 25th at the Iron Mountain Grille.
Chaz plays all of your classic and dance rock favorites. They have been playing together for a long time and have always been very good. They are at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 25th.
Bryan Schwab & Jim Kelley play all your favorite acoustic blues, psychedelic and rock fusion tunes. They will play at Deer Creek Winery on March 26th from 1-4 p.m.
Carolyn Longo will be playing pop rock, blues, smooth jazz, standards and celtic folk tunes from 5-8 p.m. on March 26th at Deer Creek Winery.
Mis B’ Havin is fast becoming Northwestern PA’s premier classic rock band playing a wide variety of hits from the last 40 years. They love it all from Deep Purple to Aretha Franklin, Hendrix to Motown, you name it. Their Led Zeppelin is over the top. If it dances, moves and has soul you are likely to hear it. They play at Ray’s Hot Spot on March 26th.
The region also has some terrific monthly meet ups to show your talent as well.
The Forest County Country Music Association has a bluegrass and country music jam session to set your toes a tappin’ and your fingers snappin’. You are even welcome to join in if you like. It happens the 2nd Friday each month at the MACA building on Pine Street in Marienville and the 3rd Friday each month at the Forest Folk School in Tionesta.
If you love American Folk Music; singing, playing guitar, banjo, ukulele, dulcimer or mandolin meet at CREATE Café on the first Thursday of each month where you’ll play the music of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio and many, many more of your favorite classic folk tunes from the 1930’s through the 1970’s.
