They say April showers bring May flowers. Well, in the Great Outdoors region April also showers you with great local live music. Here’s what’s raining down on you in April.

Bob Shawgo plays classic to today’s acoustic rock n roll favorites entwined with comedic interaction at Clarion River Brewing Company on April 1st from 8-11 p.m.

JB Unplugged is a singer/songwriter performing for over 25 years, playing the music you love from today’s new pop and country, to old classics with a catalog of over 500 songs and all genres of music. He’s playing at Iron Mountain Grille on April 2nd.

Route 8 will give you a new spin on some classic rock favorites on April 2nd from 7-10 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.

Trixx band plays all of your favorite classic rock hits from the 70’s and 80’s including Journey, Styx, Bryan Adams and so much more. These guys have been together for a long time and it shows. They are playing at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 2nd and on April 16th at Iron Mountain Grille.

Enjoy an afternoon of lyrically beautiful chamber music entitled Folk Songs and Love Songs in Lincoln Hall on April 3rd at 2 p.m. and performed by acclaimed musicians and recording artists – cellist Aron Zelkowicz, pianist Naomi Niskala, and violinist Daniel Andai – with mezzo-soprano Katherine Soroka. No matter what era you’re from, the rockin’ duo Wheels & Heels (Dick and Joanie from the band Trixx) will probably know one of your favorite songs. They are at the Iron Mountain Grille on April 8th.

Gary Bickerstaff will be playing all your acoustic top favorite hits at Deer Creek Winery on April 2nd from 1-4 p.m. and at the Iron Mountain Grille on April 9th.

Is Blues, Jazz, Country and Texas Swing your thing? Then Ricci Hardt is a must see at Deer Creek Winery on April 2nd from 5-8 p.m.

Bryan Phillips will be playing all your favorite & country hits at Deer Creek Winery’s Friday Night Music Lounge on April 8th & 22nd from 6-8 p.m. and on April 16th from 5-8 p.m.

Lonesome Bob and Steve play electrifying rock with a unique show of great music and comedic interaction on April 8th, 22nd & 30th from 7 -10 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.

The Necessary Experience is a fun, funky rock and roll band playing top hits from The Beatles, Steve Miller, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Motown. In essence they’re Funky People Playin’ Funky Tunes!!! They will play at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 8th & 23rd.

Pipe Dreams play all of your funky, psychedelic rock tunes at R** Bandana Winery on April 9th from 7-10 p.m.

Carolyn Longo will be playing pop rock, blues, smooth jazz, standards and celtic folk tunes on April 9th from 1-4 p.m. and Samantha Sears takes over from 5-8 p.m. playing her special blend of eclectic acoustic rock at Deer Creek Winery.

Sofa King Cool Band plays classic rock so well you can almost feel your hair growing! Awesome and absolutely amazing. Classic rock, blues rock, southern rock, dance rock, if it’s rock then they play it, and they’re playing it at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 9th.

The Sawyer Stepp Trio is a quality, easy listening, full sounding trio band that performs a nice variety of songs from the 70’s, 60’s, 50’s, 40’s, 30’s and even back to the roaring 20’s! They will play at  Deer Creek Winery’s Friday Night Music Lounge on April 15th and 29th from 6-8 p.m.

Rick and Jenn play all of your country, rock and traditional favorites at R** Bandana Winery on April 15th from 7-10 p.m.

Spanning four decades, The Ozone Rangers are a classic rock, country, and ZZ Top tribute band. Relying on a groove of bluesy bass and drum rhythms sprinkled with some tasty Southern licks, the Ozone recipe has stood the test of time like a bottle of Jack Daniels on a woodshed shelf. You don’t want to miss them at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 15th.

Burning Daylight is an acoustic duo playing 90’s and present day country music at R** Bandana Winery on April 16th from 7-10 p.m.

Two For Flinching combines some of the most talented musicians in the area with an entertaining stage performance and a spectacular sound and lighting show. The quartet switches effortlessly between smooth funk, hard rock and groovin’ dance rhythms, while providing sweet vocal harmonies, dazzling technical musicianship and a dose of humor. You don’t want to miss them at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 16th.

Old Guys With Guitars will be playing acoustic/electric songs by the Beatles, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Bat McGrath, James Taylor, and more at DeBence Antique Music World on April 17th at 1:30 p.m. This free concert is made possible by a grant from the Rees Foundation.

The virtuosic Kaplan Duo – Nanette Kaplan Solomon and Iris Kaplan Rosenthal perform It Takes Two to Tango, a delightful, popular program of dances, and eloquently lyric interludes including Piazzolla’s History of the Tango and Moskowski Spanish Dances, Dvorak Slavonic Dances, and Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm on April 17th at 2 p.m. in  Lincoln Hall.

Root 2 Fifth is an acoustic music duo that plays classic, timeless country and rock tunes. They will be at the Iron Mountain Grille on April 22nd.

Chaz plays all of your classic and dance rock favorites. They have been playing together for a long time and have always been very good. They are at Ray’s Hot Spot on April 22nd.

Daniel Stockwell has a unique mix of folk, rock and indie music. He plays cover songs and has some really good original tunes as well. He’ll be at Deer Creek Winery on April 23rd from 1-4 p.m. followed by Junction Lite from 5-8 p.m. playing soft rock, classic hits and the same great songs you enjoy from Junction PA only in an acoustic set.

If you’re looking for some hard, funked up rock you have to see Nick Sea at R** Bandana Winery on April 23rd from 7-10 p.m.

Robyn Young performs acoustic country, pop, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s rock and country. She is also a songwriter so you will hear some of her original work as well. You can see her at the Iron Mountain Grille on April 23rd and at  Deer Creek Winery on April 30th from 5-8 p.m.

Do you love a mix of rock, country, folk and Americana music? That’s just exactly the kind of music that Juvenile Characteristics plays! They’d love to see you in the crowd at R** Bandana Winery on April 29th from 7-10 p.m.

How about some blues, funk, and classic rock? That’s just what you’ll get when you come to Ray’s Hot Spot to hear Smokin Section do their magic on April 29th & 30th.

On April 30th Bryan Schwab & Jim Kelley play all your favorite acoustic blues, psychedelic and rock fusion tunes from 1-4 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery.

The region also has some terrific monthly meet ups to show your talent as well.

The Forest County Country Music Association has a bluegrass and country music jam session to set your toes a tappin’ and your fingers snappin’. You are even welcome to join in if you like. It happens the 2nd Friday each month at the MACA building on Pine Street in Marienville and the 3rd Friday each month at the Forest Folk School in Tionesta.

If you love American Folk Music; singing, playing guitar, banjo, ukulele, dulcimer or mandolin meet at CREATE Café on the first Thursday of each month where you’ll play the music of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio and many, many more of your favorite classic folk tunes from the 1930’s through the 1970’s.
