Cameron County

The scenic 75-mile Bucktail Trail travels through Cameron County.  This winding trail named after the famous Civil War-era Bucktail Regimen, meanders along the West Branch of the Susquehanna.  While on this beautiful driving tour, there are many stops and side trips along the way.  Three State Parks, Bucktail, Sizerville and Sinnemahoning are located in the county which all offer outstanding scenery, miles of tails and waterways and endless outdoor recreation.  Bring your camera and binoculars, as Cameron County is the home of numerous wildlife species, including Pennsylvania’s Elk Herd and Bald Eagle.  Fishing and Hunting are prime outdoor activities and Geocaching is plentiful.

Some feeder streams in the park contain native brook trout. There is a delayed harvest-artificial lures only special regulation area from mouth of Baily Run south 2.1 miles on First Fork Sinnemahoning Creek.

    This 16,433-acre natural area is actually a 75-mile scenic drive on Route 120 stretching from Emporium to Lock Haven. Four major hiking and backpacking treks include Quehanna, Bucktail Path, Donut Hole and Chuck Keiper trails.

    The east and west branches flow through Sizerville State Park and contain brook and brown trout and offers mountain freestone fishing at its best. Nearby, the Portage and Driftwood branches of the Sinnemahoning Creek provide fishing for smallmouth bass and trout. All streams receive spring stockings and are under the laws of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

    Launch area for Electric Motor and non-powered boats alike. Pontoon boat interpretive programs available Memorial Day - Labor Day. The mooring area is a good place to observe bald eagles and ospreys looking for fish.
