Great Outdoors Photo Contest
Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau will host themed photo contests, each with a different theme and cash prizes each quarter. We encourage everyone to share their vacation photos, day-trip photos, or just a short hike through the woods! Amateur and professional pictures are welcome.
Laurel Fields
Pennsylvania’s state flower, the Mountain Laurel, is perhaps the most beautiful of native American shrubs and can be seen blossoming in June throughout our forestlands. The most popular being the Laurel Fields in Clear Creek State Forest.
ATV Riding
Come play on the hundreds of miles of ATV trails in the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region. For ATVs the Allegheny National Forest is king. Each May, more than 1,000 ATV enthusiasts flock to Forest County for Tour-de-Forest, a fun organized leisure ride.
Wildlife and Animal Exhibits
A wide range of wildlife including elk, deer, bear, wild turkey, eagle, osprey, river otters, and a plethora of bird and small-game species make their home in the lush forests of the Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors region. Here, you can feed whitetail deer and a variety of exotic animals, listen to the wild elk bugle, experiences the daily life of local wildlife through hands-on exhibits, find out where trout come from at several fish hatcheries, and visit the world’s most famous weather forecaster, Punxsutawney Phil.
