Visit the Snowmobiling Capital of PA!

The Allegheny National Forest marks the starting line for hundreds of miles of scenic trails that can take you through the forest, to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and beyond.

Though it’s cold outside, snowmobilers always get a warm welcome in the town of Marienville.  Evenings and weekends are popular times to ride so the local restaurants and pubs stay open late and can get very lively.  You can even drive your sled on selected streets, so getting around is easy.  There’s also plenty of parking for cars, trucks and trailers.

Each January, Marienville hosts a Winter Festival with delicious food and chili cook-off, children's activities, scavenger hunt, snow sculptures and so much more.  After dark, enjoy a beautiful Torch Light Snowmobile Parade and sky lanterns to heaven.  This year's event will take place January 24th.

On The Trail

The ANF trails are wide, well-groomed, well-marked and easy to drive.  They’re great for riders of almost every age and skill level.  They open in December and close in April.  There are a number of straightaway runs on roadways.  For more information, you can contact the Forest County Visitor Bureau at (814) 755-3338 or ForestCounty.com   For updated trail conditions from the Marienville Ranger Station, click HERE.  Get reports on snow depths and trail conditions across the state from the PA DCNR snowmobile hotline (877) SNO-MBLE, updated every Tuesday and Thursday around noon.

Before You Ride

State law requires you to carry liability insurance and register your snowmobile.  Registration information can be obtained by clicking HERE.  Pennsylvania also requires snowmobilers to wear a helmet.
