Among the old representative industries of Ridgway is the house of Jacob Butterfuss, located at 134 Main Street, and founded in 1873. The store is of ample size and equipped with every facility for the conducting of this special line of business which consists of the manufacture of and sale of light and heavy harness, saddles, bridles, collars, blankets, brushes, whips, robes, nets, axle grease, harness oil: and horse furnishing, as well as a full line of toys and novelties. Mr. Butterfuss is a native of Germany but came to this country in 1870 and settled in Ridgway. He is one of the best known and most representative residents of the city.
