Kids & Family

The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region has many fun and exciting opportunities to get the family outside together!  Whether you're on a family vacation or spending the day with the grandkids, we can help you find exactly what you're looking for to entertain kids of any age!

  • Take a hike!  Let their imaginations run free and explore the Great Outdoors!  There is plenty to see and do while venturing through the woods.
  • Float down the river!  The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region has two Wild & Scenic rivers along with several lakes, creeks, and streams inviting you to make a splash!  Rent a canoe, kayak, or inner tube - or bring your own!
  • See the animals!  Aside from the abundance of wildlife in our parks and forests, the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors has plenty of viewing areas including elk viewing blinds, petting zoos, deer ranch, sheep and alpaca farms, and a world famous groundhog!
  • Get your hands dirty!  Learning can be fun, check out these museums and hands-on centers and we'll prove it!  Learn about the weather in the "Weather Capital of the World", the 4-D theater and discovery room teaches you about the history of the Pennsylvania Elk Herd, and the new Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning State Park invites you to crawl through a bear's den!  Don't forget to stop by Cook Forest and see a replica mount of the world's highest scoring whitetail!
