The Benefits of Membership
Northwest Pennsylvania's Great Outdoors helps promote area businesses and events. Although we also have members in various Northwestern Pennsylvania counties, NWPAGO is the official tourism promotion agency for Cameron, Clarion, Elk, Forest, and Jefferson counties operating under the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (visitPA.com).
We are a non-profit, membership-based organization promoting attributes of the region as an ideal destination for outdoor recreation. There are many benefits to membership:
Business Distribution and Listing:
Brochure Distribution: Each year, we distribute more than 500,000 member brochures at dozens of hotel lobbies, and high traffic tourist attractions throughout our region.
Visitor Guide Listing: Members receive a listing in our four color Visitors Guide which is distributed through a variety of channels: it is sent to all inquiries, is mailed to travel professionals in the surrounding states and Canada, goes to shows, and is available at welcome centers.
Web Site Listing:
Members get promoted 24-hours a day on our web page. We'll give a free link to your site! Take a virtual vacation at www.visitpago.com
Show Exposure
Our Visitors Guide, in which members are listed, is promoted at a minimum of eight travel & consumer shows each year especially the Eastern Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, the Cleveland Outdoor Show and the Pittsburgh Outdoor Show. Others include specialty shows for golfing, meeting planners and bus companies.
Publicity
Publicity for the region, and its members, is generated GO Magazine, news releases to outside media, agency events publications and referrals to travel writers. In addition, we work closely with the PA Wilds.com and VisitPa.com You can view past copies of GO Magazine on-line 24/7! Just go to the GO Magazine section under Travel Tools.
National Advertising, Lead Referral & 800 Number Fulfillment
With a nationally advertised 800-number in numerous publications, including the Pennsylvania Visitors Guide & AAA PA/NJ Handbook, Pursuits Magazine and more, we receive more than 30,000 requests for information on this region each year. Each is mailed a visitors guide and current issue of the newspaper. Immediate requests are also fulfilled by fax, phone or e-mail .
Special Publications
Special agency guides promote Cabins, Camping, Bed & Breakfasts; Craft, Antique & Specialty Shops; Meetings; Golfing; and more.
Events Promotion
Public events are promoted in an annual schedule, on the web site, in the visitors guide, in the monthly newspaper to address the question, "What is there to do around here?"
Public Relations Program
Regular news releases are sent to major Travel media. In the past, articles have generated as many as 320 calls for information in one week and readership over 4.4 million. Articles on events and attractions are also supplied to local newspapers for use in special editions specific to tourism-related activities.
